2) Rocket Project - Due Fri and Tues (6th and 7th periods). A-day - if you absolutely CAN'T get it done by Friday, you can do it over the weekend, I'll accept it by then. If you have a class that you can come and shoot, that's great, or we'll just shoot for you. OR you can come in before school and do it!
This is a Lab Grade! so it is worth a lot of points - don't skip this. You get 80 points for making the rocket and the extra points are for show (make it look GOOD)!
VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to read Mr. Parson's hand written instructions - big change, though, you can use duct tape and I suggest that you do. It makes this projectVERY fast and easy.
Below are pictures I took at school:
Cut the end off of one of the two liter bottles. Shove this into the top part of the bottle. |
||
This makes the chamber to hold your weight (rock, pennies, something). You will want to glue or tape it into the bottle. DON'T USE HOT GLUE!!! (It could cause a rupture of the bottle when we pressurize it.) The weights can be inserted thru the opening and closed with the lid. Don't use too much weight, Goldilocks. |
||
Duct tape the fins to your second bottle. Don't use light cardboard. Presentation board is best. Put the other bottle into the first, as shown. |

Here's an example of a finished (and used) rocket. |
